This course is intended for the entry-level close protection specialist and will be delivered by industry professionals with public and private sector experience. The course is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the skills and protocols required to provide professional and effective personal protection in the Canadian private sector.

- Must hold a valid G driver's license
- Must hold a valid Security License/ First Aid or be MIL/LEO
Must hold valid PAL License
- Minimum 19 years of age
Close Protection Operators (CPOs) deploy to dangerous locations and live and work for long periods in highly challenging conditions. The principal (VIP) and close protection team members must always maintain the highest standards of professionalism and self-discipline. Maturity, secrecy, discretion, and operational security are a must, as, at times, you are previewed to high-level conversations that may dictate future policy, law, or operations.
Skill prerequisites
• Be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
• First Aid or similar medical course is recommended
Casual clothing (no jeans), rain / weather gear and business clothing (slacks, jacket, tie and appropriate shoes), Tactical pants, Tactical belt, Sport shoes and uniform, laptop/smartphone, shooting glasses,
shooting ear protection like earmuffs, earplugs.
TRAINING DETAILS
Participants should have foundational knowledge of the criminal code and provincial statute authorities for powers of arrest and use of force as it pertains to security guards and private investigators. The defensive tactics, edged weapons and firearm response options training can be physically demanding with repetitive training drills and exercises. Participants should be in reasonably good physical condition to meet the demands and standards required for this course.
Participants must pass both a written exam and physical skills evaluation to successfully complete the course.
Participants are encouraged to arrive approximately 15 minutes early.
